The legacy media liked it better when they thought they had a leak.  Now they realize they've just been had.

Vice President Cheney specifically directed his then-top aide, I. Lewis (Scooter) Libby, far right, to tell reporters about a 2002 report that Iraq had tried to buy uranium from Niger, according to prosecutor Patrick J. Fitzgerald. (By Jason Reed -- Reuters) This declassification and behind closed doors release of some formerly secret information, information which, along with the 911 Commission, debunks media darling Joe Wilson, might cause some to re-think their purpose in journalism.  Straying too far from the facts might catch you in the end.  Seems to be happening a lot lately to the New York Times.

Special prosecutor Patrick J. Fitzgerald characterizes a rebuttal, or fighting back with facts, as an effort to discredit his biggest critic of the time, Joe Wilson.  The presumption here is that media has chosen to believe Wilson's version which is not supported by the 911 Commission's findings, and the White House, and security agencies around the world.

Time for a short history lesson on the virtues of tax cuts v tax increases.   What Bush's critics were saying about his tax cut proposals turned out to be exactly and completely wrong.  The economy reacted to them the way Bush and any other real economist said they would.   For example this from former Clinton Labor Secretary Robert Reich three years ago.

Former Clinton Labor Secretary, Robert Reich - January, 2003

"His latest round of proposed tax cuts won't create jobs and won't grow the economy."

Roger Hickey, The Nation - January, 2003

"The Bush economic proposals are a sham. They make the tax system more unfair, they starve the public sector of resources for needed public investment and they will not revive growth, spur corporate investment or create jobs."

Since Reich and Hickey made these statements, over 4.7 million jobs have been created and the economy has expanded for 17 consecutive quarters.

The economy reacts to the dollar, not the Democrat spin, which also illustrates the difference between socialist thought and capitalist thought.   The longest sustained growth period and the lowest unemployment in nearly ever,  fly in the face of Demo-nomic thought.
