New Orleans Recovery Update I wonder if this is what Mayor Ray Nagin had in mind for New Orleans?  Things in the Crescent City are beginning to flourish.  That is if you call rising violent crime and rising drug trade a recovery.  Drug Problems Escalate After Hurricane Katrina. No Proportionality In Reporting On Hezbollah It goes like this.  When Hezbollah commits war crimes such as firing missiles from residential neighborhoods, using 'civilians' as human shields, and when Hezbollah runs and hides in houses among civilians, both war crimes, it gets no mention from the MSM or the UN, a synonym for Useless Nations.  A lot of the reporting I've seen on casualties goes like this, when Hezbollah's katyusha rockets get lobbed into Israel's cities by the hundreds/day, they describe the victims as just 'people.'   But when Israel fires back with precisely targeted munitions, they 'kill civilians.'   More below from Debbie Schlussel. Well, yesterday, half the op-ed page went to a silly article by George E. Bisharat, a professor at Hastings College of the Law in San Francisco. The absurd headline: "Did Israel Really Need to Savage the Beauty of Beirut?" Terrorists from his precious Beirut are murdering innocent people in his precious Beirut and in Israel (and they already murdered over 241 U.S. Marines and civilians). And he's worried about the "Beauty of Beirut"?! It figures that he's a law professor in come-out-of-the-closet-land. Because only a girlie-man would be concerned about "beauty" when an ugly terrorist group is killing innocent people. Sheikh Hassan Nasrallah, Hezbollah's Girlie-Man Terrorist Leader (Sheikh--or, rather Sheikha--Nasrallah Artwork by David Lunde) Bisharat's silly article--an excuse to bash Israel and do the work of Al-Manar (Hezbo TV Network)--speaks of the "breathtaking" Bekaa Valley--the same "breathtaking Bekaa Valley in which his precious Hezbollah grows one of the worlds largest crops of pot and coke. (And of course, predictably, USA Today had no pro-Israel op-ed to "balance" things out.) Here are a few questions in response to his dumb one: * Did Hezbollah Really Need to Kill Eight Soldiers and Kidnap Two? * Did Hezbollah Really Need to Savage the Beauty of Many Israeli Cities that it Has Been Shelling for Years? * Did Hezbollah Really Need to Savage the Beauty of the Buenos Aires Jewish Community Center When it Blew the Joint Up? * Did Al-Qaeda Really Need to Savage the Beauty of the New York City Skyline? Dems Holding Their Thumb On The 'Working Poor' Never looking beyond the nose on their face, Senate Democrats voted down the proposed increase in the minimum wage, contrary to all their whining about the need for an increase.   So the working poor can be assured that when they pull themselves up and begin to earn more and gain assets throughout their working lifetime, that the Democrats will be at the funeral to take more taxes from the pockets of their survivors by also killing the reduction (not elimination) of the Death Tax.  Minimum-wage boost defeated. A republican election-year effort to combine a cut in inheritance taxes on multimillion-dollar estates with the first minimum-wage increase... Who Questioned Ann Coulter's Gender? The Media Matters for (the Left) America website, a so-called media watchdog website, (actually inspired by Rush Limbaugh, great entrepreneur that he is), finds trouble with controversy.  But not all the time.  I didn't notice any complaint when Air America radio co-host of the Ring of Fire radio show, Mike Papantonio, questioned Ann Coulter's gender.   "I'm not at all certain that Ann Coulter is even a woman.  Women don't have adams apples." "Coulter is a 44 year old woman, or man, I mean you make the choice." BTW, the NBC morning network news show has it's compliment of what appear to be Adam apples on some women newsreaders too if you care to admit it, but I don't give it another thought.   Maybe the Pap has some issues of his own to deal with? It's OK To Fly Your American Flag Now And in the 'news the MSM won't print' department, President Bush signed into law the 'Freedom to Display the American Flag Act of 2005.'   It might be too late for George Andres, who spent ' 250 days and $70,000 in legal fees and fines since the homeowners association in his Indian Creek subdivision took issue with the flagpole in front of his house.'         ref: An Important Flag Bill That Got Little Fanfare.  By Debbie Schlussel Now, that issue has been addressed (to very little press notice). Last week, President Bush signed into law the Freedom to Display the American Flag Act of 2005, a law that bars condominium and homeowner associations from restricting how the American flag can be displayed.
