Happy Harry Reid Democratic Leader of the U.S. Senate Harry Reid (D-NV) pauses while talking about the results of the vote in the Senate Judiciary Committee of the nomination of Samuel Alito for Associate Justice of the Supreme Court while on Capitol Hill in Washington January 24, 2006. (Larry Downing/Reuters)after the Senate Judiciary Committee sent Judge Alito's name to the floor for a vote.  If it were only that simple.  This will be the third ring in a three ring circus.   Meanwhile, 'top Democrats in Congress' are in search of an agenda.  An organization called 'Americans United' will be writing the script for the 'lawmakers.'  Their claim to fame is how they were instrumental in defeating Bush's Social Security Reform.  But that's not all.

The party leaders visited the party pimps (prospective donors) to discuss money and give their assurances on how much they agree with their views.  More of the same; accepting the money and singing the tune of the hand that feeds them.  Apparently, they wouldn't have a TV ad campaign without them.

Senate Democratic leader Harry Reid of Nevada and House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi of California met with potential donors in Los Angeles earlier this month, underscoring their personal interest in the group's efforts.

Americans United seeks to shape public opinion on issues such as health care, homeland security and education rather than advocate for the election or defeat of specific candidates in the November elections. As a result, it is permitted to accept donations of unlimited size from donors, and is not required to disclose the names of its contributors. It is headed by Karen Olick, a former chief of staff to Sen. Barbara Boxer (news, bio, voting record), D-Calif., and will rely on several other Democrats with long experience in political campaigns.  (emphasis added)

Right, and they're going to go after issues instead of whining.  The first will involve "corruption and honest leadership."   What that means is that they'll be corrupt and not honest.    (emphasis added)

The Democratic legislation calls for a ban on lobbyist gifts to lawmakers as well as other steps to curtail the influence of special interests in Congress. The ad broadens the attack to the White House, saying Bush has given away "billions (of dollars) to the drug companies," an apparent reference to Medicare prescription drug legislation.

Then there's the theme.

"Time for a change," the ad says. "To stop the abuse of power," adds the announcer as Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney appear on the screen. (emphasis added)

Democrat's must have their own definition for honesty.   They have to outsource for an agenda?  Would Hillary approve of that?  And yes, it is possible to show hypocrisy in a single story.  Or is that one of those, for it and against it things?
